About this nut

This is a nut in 304 Stainless Steel, at strength class A2-70, supplied plain, with an M6 thread. Every dimension is stated against the standard named above; where a tolerance class matters to your design, ask us and we will confirm it in writing before you order.

A nut is the closing half of a bolted joint. Its property class is chosen to match the bolt it is paired with — a class 8 nut for a grade 8.8 bolt, so the thread strips before the bolt breaks. Used wherever a bolt or stud has to be tightened from the far side, and for locking and positioning duties on machinery and steelwork.

A2-70 is 304 stainless, cold worked to a 700 MPa minimum tensile and 450 MPa 0.2% proof stress. It is the default stainless grade for general purpose bolts and screws.

304 (EN 1.4301, A2) is the general-purpose austenitic stainless grade: good resistance to fresh water, food acids and atmospheric corrosion, non-magnetic in the annealed state. It is the default for indoor and general outdoor fastening where chlorides are low.
