About this screw
This is a screw in 1022 Carbon Steel, at strength class Grade 8.8, supplied black oxide, with an M2 thread and a 8 mm length. Every dimension is stated against the standard named above; where a tolerance class matters to your design, ask us and we will confirm it in writing before you order.
A screw threads directly into the parent material or into a nut, so the thread form, the point and the drive decide what it can be used for. Commonly used on machinery, tooling, appliances, electrical enclosures, furniture and automotive assemblies where the head has to sit low or be driven from one side only.
A carbon steel, the default material for structural fastening. Anything grade 8.8 and up needs a coating — zinc, black oxide or Dacromet — or it will rust.
M2 is a metric thread with an 2 mm nominal diameter and a coarse pitch of 0.4 mm (ISO 261). A standard hex head takes a 4 mm spanner across the flats.
